ACCESS TO STUDIES


CONDITIONS:

  • You must be at least 17 years old on December 31st of the year you sit the entrance examination.

  • You must have the baccalaureate regardless of the option (candidates registered in final year of high school may register for the entrance examination). Nevertheless, the Science option is recommended.

  • Sitting the admission examination organised by the NCI (through this examination a ranking can be established in order to fill the number of available places in 1st year)

  • Candidates without a baccalaureate with proof of 5 years of social security contribution, may directly sit the admission examination in the 1st year.

PROCEDURES:

Registration form:

  • Fill out the registration request form

  • Provide a record of personal details for administrative purposes

  • Provide a certified copy of your baccalaureate or equivalent

  • For final year high school students, provide proof of school attendance.

  • Pay the admission exam fees.

ADMISSION :

The results of the entrance examination are posted at the National Chiropody Institute (NCI).

All candidates are personally informed. If a candidate does not give a written agreement within 10 days of the posting, it is presumed that he/she has waived the right to admission and his/her place will be offered to the next candidate in order of priority on the complementary list.

Candidates who have given their written agreement have an additional 4 days if they so desire, to pay their registration fees for the 1st year.

Cost of personal materials for 1st year students at the NCI: approximately €1,200.
 

THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION PROGRAMME

The entrance examination includes: a Biology exam marked out of 40 points. Duration: 2 hours.

  • Biology programme of the paramedical examinations

The Biology examination programme is based on the following points in the second year of the Scientific baccalaureate Life and Earth Sciences programme published in the National Education official bulletin, special edition n° 12 of October 29, 1998 and circular n° 98.212 of October 27, 1998 concerning programme adjustments.

  • Points based on the second year of the Scientific baccalaureate
    • Construction of the organism, maintenance of biological identity and genetic information.
    • Some aspects of energy metabolism.
  • Points based on the Scientific baccalaureate final year programme.
  • Genetic uniqueness of individuals and polymorphism of species.

The origin of genetic polymorphism

Basic mechanisms of sexual reproduction; the development cycle.

Genetic recombination ensured by sexual reproduction and genetic uniqueness in individuals.

Genetic diversity in populations.

Gene prediction in humans

  • The mechanisms of immunity

Self and Nonself.

The bases of immunocompetence.

The immune response process.

  • Aspects of nerve centre functioning.

The integrating roles of nerve centres and neural function.

Cerebral activity.

  • Regulation of sex hormone levels.

Regulation of sex hormone levels.

  • History and evaluation of the earth and living beings.

Biological evolution and environmental change: the human lineage.

 

INFORMATION

The NCI is a registered, recognized private higher education establishment open in conformance with the law of October 28, 1928 and does not benefit from State aid. It is approved by the Ministry of Health and provides education that complies with the official programme.

The NCI is approved to accommodate 360 students (120 in 1st year, 120 in 2nd year and 120 in 3rd year).

The director, Mr Dominique NUYTENS was appointed by the Minister of Health.

  • Student status

The National Chiropody Institute(NCI) students have the "student status" and a student card.They can also have a mutual insurance subscription (SMEREP, MNEF).

Students can benefit from CROUS, a public network for school and university student services: university restaurants, loans, hostels, etc.

  • Tuition fees

    • The sum of tuition fees is set in the appendix

    • Tuition fees include fees for study and on the other hand the set cost of supplies (products for bandages, materials used to make plantar orthoses and the cost of civil liability insurance).

    • It does not include:

      • Personal subscriptions to student social security or subscriptions to supplementary mutual insurances.

      • Liquid pharmaceutical products (DAKINA, BISEPTINEA… )

      • The purchasing cost of personal instruments.

    • Tuition fees are to be paid to the accounting department (to the order of NCI) on registration but we allow payment to be spread out in four instalments.

  • Grants - Aids

Detailed information is available at the secretariat.

    • Student grants are issued by the Paris DDASS (District health and social services office).

    • Aid can be granted by the CROUS social service to students not integrated in universities.

ORGANISATION AND PROGRAMME OF STUDY AT NCI: theoretical and practical training are given over a period of 3 years.

1st year: 1265 hours

  • Anatomy, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine for dissections

  • Medical hygiene

2nd year: 1180 hours

OBJECTIVES :

  • Study and treatment of the most important pathologies

  • Developing practical vocational situation

  • Biomechanics and kinesiology

  • Orthopaedic, vascular, rheumatologic and dermatologic diseases

  • Technology

3rd year: 1025 hours

  • Biomechanical Anatomy, Kinesitherapy (reviews)

  • Neurological, Orthopaedic, and Dermatological Diseases.
